8 Week Horseshoeing Class March - May

8 Week Horseshoeing Class March - May

Admission and Class Requirements

To attend school at East Coast Horseshoeing School you must be 18 years old. Once we receive your application and a $100 non-refundable deposit you will be enrolled. We will need $5,000 payment a month prior to start to continue to hold spot.  The rest of payment will be due in full by the first day of class. If within the first week you decide horseshoeing is not for you, you may withdraw and be refunded 75% of your full tuition.

Each class will last 8 weeks. Once you have finished the class you will be rewarded a certificate stating the completion of horseshoeing school. The 8 weeks will consist of 1-2 hours of classroom work a week and 5-7 hours of hands-on work daily for 5 days a week. If for some reason students are unable to get their hours in during the week there will be weekend time available. Students will need at least a 70% classroom and forge grade to receive certificate.

Once you have finished the class and received your certificate, we will do our best to put you in contact with a farrier in your area to help you get started with your career. This is not a guarantee. If a student plans to continue their education it is that student's responsibility to find out if our course qualifies them to enter an Equine Podiatry program.

Safety and Responsibilities

Students will be expected to follow all safety guidelines, school rules and responsibilities. There is a zero-tolerance for alcohol and drug use on campus, so this would be reason for immediate dismissal.

Students will be allowed free time in the forging area. If safety rules cannot be followed this privilege will be removed and the forging area will be locked when there is no administration on campus.

Students that stay on campus will have bunk house style living quarters and access to stove, grills, washer, dryer, etc. They will be responsible for fixing their own food and keeping living space clean. The students will also be responsible for the care of the horses that are on site. The first thing you need to learn to become a farrier is good horsemanship.
